My most recent endeavor is my dream restaurant, Twelvemonth. We are a neighborhood destination in Burlingame, bringing people closer to one another and to their food with plant-based culinary storytelling. Come visit us!
Personally, I eat and cook as close to vegan as possible and frequently surprise vegan skeptics with amazing, best in class flavor as well as innovative dishes that leave “meat and potatoes” far behind. My overall goal with food is to inspire others to eat more healthfully and more sustainably for our planet. I think by being a vegan chef I can have the largest impact in this way since pretty much everyone could use some more tasty plant-based dishes in their repertoire. My main Instagram account @bobtrahan is the best way to stay abreast of my personal food adventures. That said, it’s probably best to just follow the Twelvemonth instagram if you’re passionate about plant-based eats like me.
I am also a co-owner of a Delighted, an emerging marijuana cultivation company in Sacramento, CA. I have been a medical cannabis user for over a decade in California and I am very excited to build a business in this space. Our goal is to grow the highest quality flower we can, our success metric for now is grams of flower per watt, and our current focus is on building out our first cultivation facility. You can best follow this subset of my adventures by following me on Instagram at @bob.is.delighted.
I’m also into politics. I’ve come a long way from my vaguely libertarian youth and I now know that the United States government is the most leveraged force for change in the world. I need to do my part to make sure that change engine is working to make the world a better place.
In the past, I was focused on professionally cooking and I worked at Pairie as a line cook and at Al’s Place as a prep cook. I also successfully completed the Professional Culinary Arts Immersion program at the now defunct International Culinary Center in Campbell, CA.
Before that I was a Silicon Valley tech guy. I was a founder of Phacility, the company that builds and is the premier hosting provider of Phabricator. Before that, I was an engineer at Facebook, finishing up my time there with fancy titles such as “Director of Culture” and “Director of Infrastructure Engineering.” And before that, I started my professional career at Microsoft, where I was glad to have secured a job by doing a really good job at my Microsoft internship while at Harvard.
I live in the Bay Area with my wife Natalie, daughter Poppy, son Sawyer, daughter Ruby, dogs Huckleberry and Pheonix, cats Libby, Pearl, and Emerald, and a whole gaggle of fish I honestly can’t keep track of anymore.
